There are two separate events going on this weekend. The Internet Bid Whist Club (IBWC) annual Virginia Beach Bid Whist Card Party and the National Card Sharks Inc. monthly money-hosted ranked tournaments for cash prizes. These two events will be held on the same weekend at the Surfside Inn hotel but in two separate rooms. If you are coming for the IBWC card party you will have the full run of the the facilities which includes any tournament you wish to play in, food, drinks, karaoke, prizes and all other activities associated with the IBWC party. If you are only attending the National Card Sharks Inc. tournaments you will be limited to their playing room only and will not have access into the IBWC party.
This is our 5th year doing the Virginia Beach Party so we plan on making this a memorable event for all who attend. This year we have invited the National Card Sharks Inc. who will be hosting one of their Bid Whist Across America Officially Ranked 2008 Tournaments that weekend as well. So for all of you who like to play for Money this is the event you don't want to miss. For all of you who have never played in an official ranked tournament this will provide you the opportunity to experience how they are ranked and run that weekend. Please check out the Card Sharks link on the left side of the page. For those who have been to an IBWC party before, the event will still be in the Calypso room upstairs on the 4th floor. We will also be hosting tournaments with trophies and medals. All folks attending the IBWC party are welcome to participate in these free games. We will synchronize the tournaments so that if you are playing in one of the sharks tournament and lose you will still be able to come back upstairs and join the next IBWC tournament afterwards. ROOMS & COST The Calypso Room (located on the 4th floor) will be where the IBWC events will be held for the weekend. The Dolphin Room (located on the 1st floor) will be where the National Card Sharks Event will be held. The hotel is $89 per night. Rooms consist of 2 Double beds or a King Size bed. Please state your preference when registering. Also, please ask for a smoking or non-smoking room at that time. (The first night deposit will be taken from your credit card when booking) There are a few suites available on a first come first serve basis. The prices of the suites are $149 a night. These rates will be honored 3 days prior and 3 days after the party date. All reservations must be received four weeks prior to the event date. After such time the rooms will be based upon rate and availability. Any cancellations must be made 72 hours in advance to receive a full refund less a $5.00 confirmation fee. The entire hotel has been set aside for our group that weekend so when booking, do so under the "IBWC/National Card Sharks" name or you will not be allowed to book a room there. With these two events going on the hotel will filled up quickly so again we will be using their sister hotel **"The Sand Castle" (located next door) to handle the overflow guest. They will also honor the $89 per night fee for the IBWC/National Card Sharks group. Don't wait until the last minute to book your room. Event The cost of this event for the 2-day weekend will be *$50.00 per person. This is the cost for folks attending the IBWC party. If you are coming to play in the National Card Sharks event only you are not obligated to pay the cost unless you also plan on joining the party. For those attending the IBWC party the cost will cover registration and hospitality room, lights snacks on Friday night, continental breakfast on Saturday morning, buffet style dinner on Saturday night and other incidentals such as the gifts, badges, prizes, and extras. All non-alcoholic beverages are included with your meals. (These prices are based on your attendance for both days. There is no separate price for 1 day attendance) If you are planning on attending this event, you need to RSVP back with your name and any other names of persons who will also be in attendance with you. Please use the "E-MAIL US" tab on the left side of the page to send your reply or to ask any other questions you may have in reference to this event. When replying please tell us what name you want on your name badge and the names of all other persons who will be in attendance and needing a name badge as well. The cut off date for name badges will be one week prior to the event. (ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED IN THE BANQUET ROOM.....BYOL)
TRANSPORTATION The nearest airport to Virginia Beach, is Norfolk, (airport code is ORF). Newport News airport (which is about 30 minutes away) would be the next closest airport you could fly into. The airport code is PHF. If you are planning on flying into the Norfolk beach airport. We have a VA Beach residence who is willing to provide transportation to and from the airport at a much cheaper rate then their taxi service.
